Why We Built TradePath

Two people who have worked inside prop firms and brokerages, building the one they would have wanted to trade with.

There is a version of this post that opens with a mission statement. This is not that post.

TradePath exists because both of us have spent years on the operations side of proprietary trading and brokerage – the risk desks, the trading rules, the payout reviews, the meetings where a firm decides whether a trader gets paid. We have seen how those decisions actually get made. Most of what is wrong with funded trading is not fraud. It is a slow accumulation of small discretions, each defensible on its own, that add up to a business where the firm’s interests and the trader’s interests quietly diverge.

We wanted to find out whether you could run one without that.

THE PREMISE

Three things, decided before we wrote a single rule.

Publish the rules before anyone pays.

Not in a terms document, not on request – on the page, before the checkout. Every target, drawdown, consistency requirement and time limit. If a rule is not published, it is not a rule we will enforce against you. This sounds obvious. In practice it removes the entire category of dispute where a trader discovers a requirement at the moment they try to withdraw.

Decide against evidence rather than interpretation.

A hard breach on our products means one of three things: the daily loss limit, the maximum drawdown, or inactivity. All three are numbers. A system measures them without anyone forming a view about the trader. What that removes is the discretionary layer – the space where a firm decides case by case whether a pattern of trading was acceptable, and where that decision has an unfortunate tendency to correlate with the firm’s cash position.

Treat a payout as an obligation rather than a negotiation. Five conditions, published as a closed list. Meet them and the money is owed. There is no review of whether we liked how you traded.

WHO WE ARE

Reece Watkins – Founder & Chief Executive Officer
Reece founded TradePath after nearly seven years across proprietary trading and brokerage operations, working through risk, trading rules, payout review and the day-to-day mechanics of running funded-trader programmes. He owns TradePath’s rulebook, its breach logic and its payout policy, and holds the relationship with the firm’s technology provider.

Kamil Lipigorski – Founder, Risk & Trading Operations
Kamil leads risk and trading operations. His work covers real-time exposure monitoring, order-flow review, and the behavioural analysis that separates genuine trading skill from activity a funded programme cannot sustain. He is responsible for the payout ratio the business depends on, and for the trader support that sits behind it.

That second role is what makes the first one possible. A firm can only afford to keep its terms simple and enforce them identically for everyone if it genuinely understands its risk. Discretion is what firms reach for when they do not.

WHAT WE BUILT IT ON

We run on FPFX Technologies infrastructure – the platform layer behind a number of established firms in this sector. That was a deliberate choice over building our own.

Building your own platform is how a young prop firm spends two years solving problems that are already solved, and how trader money ends up funding engineering rather than payouts. Using proven infrastructure means our risk controls, breach detection and payout processing run on systems that have already handled real volume, and it means the part of the business we are actually accountable for – the rules, the enforcement, the payouts – is the part we spend our time on.

It also means being honest about the arrangement. TradePath Funding is an affiliate of Prop Account, LLC. Assessments are provided by Prop Account, LLC, assessment fees are paid to Prop Account, LLC, and if you qualify for a funded account you enter a Trader Agreement with them. Everything else – the programme design, the rules, the support, the education – is ours. That disclosure sits at the bottom of every page on this site, because you should know exactly who you are contracting with.

THE STANDARD WE ARE BUILDING TO

On 22 July 2026 the Financial Commission published the first independent certification framework for proprietary trading firms. It covers payout transparency, consistency of rule enforcement and sustainable risk management, and the review reads rulebooks, evaluation criteria and payout policies with annual renewal.

We do not hold that certification. No TradePath certification should be represented as held unless and until a certificate is formally issued, and we will tell you the day it is.

What we have done is build to it from the start. Every principle in that framework – published rules, consistent enforcement, a payout process that does not depend on the firm’s mood – is something we decided on before the framework existed, for the same reasons the committee wrote it down. Established firms will need to retrofit that standard across legacy rulebooks and payout processes. We have no legacy to retrofit.

WHAT THIS COSTS US

Worth being straight about the trade-off, because a post like this is easy to write and harder to mean.

A firm that enforces rules identically gives up the option to be lenient when it suits and strict when it does not. A firm that publishes a closed list of payout conditions gives up the ability to find a new one. A firm that pays out on a defined schedule gives up the working-capital benefit of delay.

Those are real costs and we have accepted them, because the alternative is a business that only works while traders do not read carefully. That is not a business, it is a countdown.

EVERY SUMMIT HAS A PATH. THIS IS YOURS.
